Komödie am Kurfürstendamm
The Komödie am Kurfürstendamm is one of Germany’s leading venues for sophisticated, cosmopolitan entertainment theatre and has been the go-to venue for contemporary light entertainment for decades.
This historic theatre – originally founded on Kurfürstendamm in 1924 by Max Reinhardt and run continuously by the Woelffer family since 1950 – stages comedies, light-hearted plays, shows and concerts – often as world premieres or German premieres – always featuring a star-studded cast.
The original building on Kurfürstendamm was demolished in 2018. Until the end of 2022, theatre director Martin Woelffer and his team used the historic Schiller Theater as a temporary home, and subsequently the Theater am Potsdamer Platz until May 2025. Since 2024, the Komödie has been performing at the Ernst-Reuter-Saal in Reinickendorf and, in the summers of 2025 and 2026, at the Neues Haus des Berliner Ensemble. Meanwhile, a new theatre for the Komödie am Kurfürstendamm is being built on Kurfürstendamm.
