Das Weite Theater

For over 30 years, the Weite Theater in Lichtenberg has been synonymous with professional puppetry and theatre of the highest standard, earning itself an excellent reputation not only in Berlin’s theatre scene. Plays for children are performed almost daily and for families at the weekend, but young people and adults also get their money’s worth at the WEITEN THEATER with selected evening events. New productions are staged every season. The theatre is at home with puppetry, but is not limited to it: the spectrum is ‘WIDE’ – the decisive factor is the means by which a story can be conveyed. The aim at the WEITEN THEATER is to combine acting, puppetry and music on stage and allow them to become equal “performers”. In doing so, artistic paths far removed from familiar conventions are taken and no experiment is shied away from: you can always count on a surprise at the WEITEN THEATER.
