Germany’s largest touring theatre The Deutsches Theater is the musical theatre of the city of Munich. Whether immortal classics from Broadway and London’s West End, brand new plays or international shows from all over the world: as Germany’s largest guest performance theatre, the Deutsches Theater provides a varied programme of the highest artistic standard. In addition to popular musicals and shows, the year-round programme also includes concerts, variety, ballet and contemporary dance as well as plays for children and young people. The Silbersaal In addition to the main stage, the traditional Munich theatre also offers a diverse programme in the magnificent Silbersaal and Barocksaal, which has been preserved in its original form from 1896, ranging from smaller musical productions and concerts to readings, exhibitions and cabaret programmes. Since the 2023 season, World Music, singer/songwriters, classical salon concerts and dance evenings have had their own permanent home here. Organisation & Cooperation Deutsches Theater Betriebs GmbH is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the City of Munich. The supervisory board, headed by the second mayor Dominik Krause, is made up of city councillors from various political groups. Thomas Linsmayer has been responsible for the theatre management since February 2022. The Deutsches Theater focuses on national and international productions as well as collaborations with other theatres and festivals such as the August Everding Theatre Academy in Munich, the English Theatre Frankfurt, the Junges Theater Bonn, the Salzburger Landestheater and many others.
